My approach to therapy
I use Cognitive Behavioural therapy to help with symptom reduction and to understand the interplay of thoughts, behaviours, and feelings. Mindfulness practises help us slow down and connect with our true selves. For those who want to go deeper, I use Adlerian therapy to answer the “why” questions.
People are not born depressed; something happens along the way, and Adlerian therapy gives us a framework to explore one’s personal meaning behind events, like trauma, that leave an impact.
Shame keeps our pain in the dark. Therapy shines a light.
Shame is paradoxical.
It keeps us suffering alone when what we really need is to reach out for help. We cannot change unless we face those things that make us feel irredeemable. Talking about our pain and acceptance is sometimes enough.
